Dumitru & Sandra’s Volunteering Romania 2018

We (Dumitru & Sandra) will be volunteering with Venture 2 Impact in Romania this Summer 2018 (29th of June – 8th of July) to help orphans who grew up in institutionalised orphanages to receive the skills needed to get better paying jobs and to give them the hope of a better future.

Imagine…..
Imagine your parents gave you up when you were a baby and you were left in an institutionalised orphanage. In fact, you had to switch from one orphanage to another. In each orphanage, there were many children and few adults so you did not get a lot of attention, physical contact, or access to opportunities. School and time with other children was hard for you. You struggled with feeling abandoned and not wanted. In many ways, this is the story of the youth at Hope & Homes in Romania.

Our volunteering contribution

The volunteer opportunity in Romania will be focused on teaching tangible skills and abilities to a young adult population that grew up in the institutionalised orphanage system. These young adults face more social and economic challenges than peers who grew up in ordinary homes. While we will be helping develop the youth’s English, computer, and job-readiness skills, the initiative is not really about English or computers. Our mission is about equipping young adults with the skills they need to attain better paying jobs, the mission is about helping them to have a better future.
